Thanks to my friend, Jesse, the same friend who introduced me to synching Facebook and Gmail calendars (changed my life!), I just discovered a feature that is available to some Gmail users. If you’re a local business owner and have more than one Google email account- one personal, and one for business, you can be more agile and efficient with email by avoiding the constant switch between browser windows to reply to the right person from the right account. Now (for eligible and voluntary users), you can adjust your settings to enable ‘Multiple Sign-In’, which adds an option on the top right of your Gmail window to switch accounts easily in the same browser window and tab.

Here’s how:

1. Go to: https://www.google.com/accounts.
2. Under ‘Personal Settings’, select the ‘on’ link for ‘Multiple sign-in’.
3. Read all instructions/considerations.
4. Select the ‘On’ radio button, and check the boxes beside the considerations if you agree.
5. Click ‘Save’ and go to your gmail account (you can sign into either).
6. On the top right corner of your Gmail browser window/tab, click the down arrow near the email address you signed in with.
7. Select the link that says ‘Switch account’. (If you still don’t have this option, you may need to update your browser).
8. Ta-dah! You should be able to switch email accounts in the same window with the click of a button and reply to both personal and business contacts from the same place. Happy emailing!
